I'm halfway through the book. It's at once a model of good pop-science exposition and a seismically provocative synthesis of the nascent field of what John Derbyshire calls bio-history. If you want to catch up on the genre, other required stops include Gregory Clark's A Farewell to Alms, Jeffrey Hart's Understanding Human History (free PDF here), Denis Dutton's The Art Instinct, and Jon Entine's Abraham's Children.
